Hello friends! My name is Stu Marshburn, and I am honored that you found your way to this page. You being here right now means a lot to me for one reason: it shows that you care about investing in yourself. Counseling can be scary, especially when one has not ventured into
the realm of counseling before. So, looking into investing in your mental health life is a great first step towards self-care and healing. I hope I can be a part of that journey with you.

My ultimate goal for my clients is to foster a profound sense of belonging. I strive to create a hopeful, positive experience as we delve into the intricacies of their stories, passions, and purposes.

As I journey alongside my clients, I aim for them to feel empowered and confident in their ability to lead a life of joy and freedom.

Through counseling with me, there are multiple forms of therapy that I believe will bestassist those who walk through my doors. My personal counseling philosophy consists of Person-Centered, Individual, and Gestalt Therapy but relies heavily on two key theories: ExistentialTherapy and Internal Family Systems (or IFS for short). Purpose and meaning are central toevery person’s life, and I desire to help unlock this for any client who enters my office. I alsobelieve that family origin and past family trauma play a key role in the development of anyindividual. Finally, I believe that with the strength that God gives, anyone can heal and grow intothe person they desire to be. It just takes a leap of faith and trust in the process to do so.

With all this being said, I still have much more to learn. In May 2022, I graduated from Samford University with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. I currently attendColorado Christian University and am working towards a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. As I complete my degree, I will fulfill my practicum and internship requirements inBirmingham, AL, with the Still Waters Team, hoping to graduate and become a licensedprofessional counselor. I am currently a member of the Alabama Counseling Association. This isall very important for you to know as I am pursuing a professional therapy license. If you have any questions about where I am in my counseling career or experience as a counselor, please feel free to reach out. My email is down below.

Last but surely not least, my faith in Jesus Christ is what drives my life. As a believer, I believe that healing ultimately comes from the Healer and that full submission to the Lord will change heart, mind, and soul. While I believe this, I desire to serve and counsel all people. My office is a place where you may come as you are and be heard, seen, and cared for, regardless of beliefs, opinions, or values. I desire to create this environment for all who desire counseling fromme.Again, I thank you for being here. It truly means so much to me. I hope we can work together to bring healing, hope, and rest to your life.
